Dashboard and Alerts
The Dashboard is where your camera reads will show up in real-time. Highlighting reads that result in alerts. You can click the button in the bottom left corner of this screen to set the Dashboard to Full Screen.
The Dashboard is made up of 3 panels:
Alert Details
The Alerts List
The Ticker
Alert Details
2. The Alerts List
1 (Red)
This is a stolen Vehicle or Trio crime with SAPS Case number, Or a recently stolen vehicle not yet circulated by SAPS. These vehicles should be stopped and searched by SAPS. Careful attention should be paid if the occupants are listed as armed. If there is no CAS# Please notify our validation centre for further information.
2 (Orange)
This vehicle needs to be monitored closely because:
It has been used in crimes.
It is stolen but awaiting SAPS case number.
Or other information is missing.
Depending on the information available, SAPS either need to stop and search vehicle or the vehicle needs to be closely monitored.
3 (Yellow)
This vehicle is flagged for watch and monitor only, it may be cloned or suspected to be used in crime. The vehicle needs to be monitored, if occupants show suspicious behaviour. SAPS should stop and search the vehicle.

Green alerts have been dealt with and feedback left. These will have the text greyed out but will still open when clicked on for additional feedback if necessary.

Camera - Shows the name of the camera that the vehicle was read by.
List - Shows which hotlist the alert comes from.
Local List - A Local list is managed by you and alerts only on your cameras.
Global List - Global listed vehicles are listed across all cameras and can only be removed or edited by the SNIPR validation centre.
SAPS Alert - These come from the SAPS CAS system.

Elapsed Time - Shows how much time has passed since the alert came in.
3. The Ticker
The Ticker can be found in the bottom right corner and shows every vehicle passing every camera on your system. The ticker constantly moves depending on the traffic passing. Checking the ticker is an easy way to tell if your Dashboard or cameras are not functioning.
There are 2 buttons on the ticker, the first says cameras and will allow you to select specific cameras to show on the ticker. This is useful if you need to monitor the reads coming in on a specific camera.
The 2nd button is the pause button. Pressing this will stop the ticker so you can examine any of the reads. Clicking on a read will open it in the Alert Details panel for closer examination.
The Dashboard Process
The process of how to deal with alerts on the Dashboard can be broken up into 4 steps:
-
Click on the alert in the Alerts List panel to open it in the Alert Details panel. Keep in mind that alerts that are marked green have already gotten feedback. New alerts will sound a siren when appearing.
-
Ensure that the camera read the registration correctly by checking the top left text against the image displayed directly below it. If the text and image do not match, click the Feedback button and select the type of misread that occurred.
If the read is correct, click the Details button. Compare the vehicle details from the read with the details listed below the read. This will help you see what actions to take.
-
The action you take will depend on the type of alert, the crime linked to the alert, and your company SOP’s. It may involve contacting SAPS or dispatching security personnel to engage or observe the vehicle.
-
No matter the details and circumstances of the alert, it is always important to complete the process by leaving the appropriate feedback. This helps the system keep track of recovered and cloned vehicles and prevents future unnecessary or inaccurate alerts.
